Child Welfare Leader: The American Institutes for Research (AIR) is seeking an experienced child welfare leader who has managed a local, regional or state child welfare system in Regions IX or X (Western States and Territories). AIR and its partners, the National Indian Child Welfare Association (NICWA),the Center for the Study of Social Policy (CSSP), Georgetown University’s National Technical Assistance Center for Children’s Mental Health (NTAC), and the Louis de la Parte Florida Mental Health Institutes (FMHI) at the University of South Florida, have been awarded a cooperative agrement from the Children’s Bureau (CB), Administration for Children, Youth and Families (ACF), U.S. Health and Human Services to establish a Child Welfare Technical Assistance Implementation Center in Regions IX and X. The goal of the Center is to collaborate with States, Tribes and Territories in transforming child welfare systems and improving the services delivered to children, youth, and families.
The project director will provide technical assistance to state child welfare systems in overcoming barriers to systems change. The project director and Center partners will work closely with States, Tribes, and Territories to co-design a technical assistance approach that is values-based and mission-driven with the goal of improving outcomes for children, youth, and families in child welfare. While all States, Tribes and Territories in these regions will have access to general information and resources on systems changes, others will be selected to receive more intensive coaching and on-site technical assistance.

Incumbent implements a statewide systems of coordinated interdisciplinary, interagency programs to ensure the provision of appropriate early intervention services to infants and toddlers with delays or disabilities. Provides oversight of subcontractors responsible for providing service coordination services, personnel training and development, family training and demonstration projects, such as training child care providers on issues involving services for infants and toddlers with disabilities. Provides research and implementation of best practices to promote efficient and effective early intervention services that are in compliance with federal regulations. Chapter Child Care Contact: The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) has identified Chapter Child Care Contacts in all states (Chapters) to provide a network of pediatric child care experts who can improve the health and safety of children in child care and engage parents in discussions about quality care and their options. Each AAP Chapter Contact is a member of the AAP Provisional Section on Early Education and Child Care and is appointed by their AAP Chapter president to serve as a liaison between the chapter and the AAP regarding early education/child care topics and initiatives. Chapter Contacts may work informally in partnership with others or may serve as chairperson for a formal Chapter Committee.
