The Elements of Understanding: Deeper Instruction in Reading and Listening Comprehension
Aided by the diligence and commitment of Texas educators, students throughout the state have made great gains in reading achievement. Nevertheless, we continue to evaluate our data and our instructional priorities. Many school districts have identified a focus on deeper comprehension instruction as one area of need. For this reason, the Elements of Understanding: Deeper Instruction in Reading and Listening Comprehension professional development modules have been created. Incorporating professional development with continued coaching, these modules are designed to assist teachers in enhancing core program instruction with an emphasis on higher-level thinking skills.
To support this focus on reading and listening comprehension instruction throughout the state, the following comprehension modules will be available through the Children’s Learning Institute in 2008-2009.
